The earthquakes that shook Nepal in 2015 ravaged two regions where Norlha is running projects. To meet the disaster, Norlha immediately provided emergency aid and set up a reconstruction programme to help victims get back on their feet. Norlha is now working with its partners to rebuild the communities’ lives and conditions so that they are better than those that existed before the earthquakes.

The recovery programme has evolved to Building Better Lives, which runs parallel to our agriculture and existing gender projects for our current beneficiaries and new participants.
Our ambassador Sophie Lavaud has launched this ambitious project with Norlha to rebuild a vital trail for the villagers of Thulogaun in Nepal. With this in mind, she successfully conquered Makalu (8,481m) on May 25th 2016, but efforts to reach the summit of K2 were thwarted by a huge avalanche. However, Sophie is still comitted to raising funds for this project.
