Norlha’s ambassador Sophie Lavaud is now the 56,000 lady!

Sophie has successfully reached the top of the Manaslu (8,163m) early in the morning on September 26 after facing strong winds during the night. This is her 7th summit at 8,000m which makes her the “56,000 lady”.

This exploit follows her successful ascent of Broad Peak (8,047) which top she reached this summer after battling through the night without the aid of oxygen.

By conquering the world’ highest mountains Sophie Lavaud is not only realising her dream but helping women in Nepal realise theirs. The aim of her climbs is to help raise funds for our most recent project – “Mahila” which means woman in Nepali. It supports women adversely affected by the mass phenomenon of men’s migration from rural Rasuwa.
