Sophie Lavaud: Destination Broad Peak

Swiss mountaineer and Norlha’s ambassador Sophie Lavaud has conquered her sixth eight-thousander. She struggled through the night and finally reached the summit of Broad Peak (8,047 m), on the border of Pakistan and China, without resorting to oxygen.

It follows her failed attempt in the spring, to reach the top of Kangchenjunga (8,586 m), in Nepal. Unfortunately, unfavourable conditions forced her to turn back at 8,200m.

In realizing her dream, Sophie hopes to help women in Nepal achieve theirs. She aims to support our new “Mahila” project for women impacted by migration.
